Masterwort and comfrey

Wild masterwort and comfrey naturally grow in the Alps. We also cultivate them in our organic mountain garden, where they perfectly fit within the local ecosystem. The special properties of these soothing and regenerative plants form the basis of our Impératoire Hand Balm.

Much prized by our ancestors, masterwort was an important plant for mountain people. Its root extract soothes your skin. The comfrey contained in this natural hand balm also regenerates your skin and helps healing any rashes on your hands.

Sweet almond oil and macadamia oil

The almond oil contained in this natural hand balm means the cream is quickly absorbed by your skin. The oil moisturises your skin and feels gentle.

The balm is also rich in macadamia oil which traps moisture in your skin leaving it to feel soft and fresh. The fatty acids contained in macadamia also nourish your skin and help prevent your hands from feeling dry and flakey.

Beeswax and shea butter

Our organic hand balm contains shea butter which is why the balm feels so smooth when you apply it to your skin. The butter is also rich in fatty acids which is essential for softening your hands.

Beeswax is vital in maintaining a protective layer of lipid film on your skin. This protects your hands from cold air and helps your skin feel hydrated throughout the day.

Recommended routine

The Impératoire Hand Balm can be used throughout the day whenever your hands feel dry. To keep your hands smooth all year long, we recommend gently applying the balm as part of your nighttime skincare routine. To enhance the healing effect, apply the balm and then put gloves before going to sleep. In the morning, your skin will feel smoother than ever. You only need to apply a small amount of the hand balm to enjoy its full benefits. It can be used on any rough or dry area of your body, like your knees, elbows and feet.

Our story

In the foothills of the Swiss Alps, there’s an alpine pasture overlooking the lush valley of Pays-d’Enhaut. As a child, my father took me here on hikes and it’s where he taught me to respect nature. I would soon move to Brazil but I never forgot the beauty of the region.

Then one day I returned to the Pays-d’Enhaut. And it’s here in 2009, along the winding banks of a stream, that I emerged through a grove of trees to discover a garden hidden by nature.

The smell of lemon balm, mint and chamomile wafted in the air. Water crackled down the nearby stream. While the Edelweiss flower bloomed in abundance in the shadow of trees. My father’s lessons rushed back to me and I knew I had finally found my home for Jardin des Monts.

Today the garden is still owned by nature and the seasons tell us how to grow. When snow falls on the mountains we design the garden. Then in the first days of spring we sow the soil. The harvest comes in the summer and our medicinal plants only leave when they have been collected by our hands. Our Impératoire and Edelweiss range and our herbal teas ar organically certified and free from unnatural preservatives. All our products are 100% natural.
